Why it exists
Blurring faces in a video used to mean either paying for editing software and doing it frame by frame, or handing sensitive footage to a website that processes it on someone else’s servers. For a journalist protecting a source, a school sharing a sports day, or anyone posting a dashcam clip, the second option asks for a lot of trust in exchange for a few minutes saved.
Browsers can now do the whole job locally: decode video with the device’s own hardware, run a detection model at close to native speed, and encode the result back to MP4. Once that became possible, a tool that uploads your footage stopped being necessary.
Who builds it
AnonymizeVideo.app is built and maintained by a solo developer. It is not backed by an advertising business, and it does not sell, share or store the footage you process — which is straightforward to promise given the footage never arrives in the first place.

How it is funded
